June 1 – San Francisco – American College of Sports Medicine Annual World meeting
We’ve known for a long time that moderate alcohol consumption leads to lower cardiovascular risk – hence longer life. In 2004, a very large European study showed that people consuming moderate amounts of alcohol on a daily basis were significantly slimmer than those who imbibed infrequently or never.
Now comes data from another huge study by the NIH [National Institutes of Health] with the same message. ‘Moderation’ equates to 1 to 4 glasses of wine per day. So my recommendation for those want to have Green Light dinners with beer or wine is: Enjoy! Living longer while maintaining slimmer sounds pretty good to me.
